Modern Master Bathroom Remodel

In this bathroom makeover in West Palm Beach, watch how we went from old and outdated to fancy and luxurious, all for under $13K!!! This 50 square foot master bathroom underwent a complete gut job- we’re talking new plumbing, new electrical, new drywall, modern wall-mounted bathroom vanities, and more.

The homeowners wanted a high-end bathroom design but without the high-end price tag. We handled the entire project, from coming up with the interior bathroom design to the actual construction and project management of it all! So, based on their taste, we chose a modern and contemporary style. We demolished everything down to the studs, except the vanity area, which was already gone due to a leak, but the first thing to go was the old acrylic wall surround. With that out of the way, we replaced the bathtub/shower area with a new bathtub. Backerboard was placed inside the shower and it was waterproofed. In all of our bathrooms, we like to include a shower niche, which the homeowners find extremely useful.

One of the reasons this bathroom design is more high-end is due to the use of 24″x48″ Large Format tiles. To be within budget, we did not opt to go with actual marble, but a high gloss statuary porcelain tile, which mimics a marble-look, on the shower walls and a matte finish on the floor (as to not be a trip hazard when it gets wet). The beautiful feature of these particular tiles is that they are rectified; with proper installation, it yields a MINIMAL grout line making it appear to be more of a slab than a tile. The original bathroom lacked proper illumination, so we added a couple of LED recessed lights. Typically, in our designs, we place a wet-rated light above the shower area and lights throughout the bathroom, all on dedicated, separate switches. One switch to control the vanity light, the exhaust fans, and the other lightning throughout.

To keep with a modern, contemporary look, we went with a wall-mounted furniture style vanity for the bathroom cabinets. We wanted to install another linen tower as storage space was a necessity for our client. In addition to the linen tower, the wall-mounted vanities have drawers versus doors to provide additional storage. We were able to not only make this space aesthetically pleasing but also functional for our clients.
