What Should I Renovate First, Kitchen or Bathroom?

Bathroom kitchen renovation

Kitchen and bathrooms are the most important places in your home, so when you have the opportunity to make the investment in renovating your home, which do you remodel first? Remodeling the kitchen or bathroom adds value to a home. The answer really depends on how you use your space and what is practical for you and your family. As kitchen and bath dealers and remodelers, the goal of this article is to help guide your decision by giving you some perspective.

Which room do you use more frequently?

The bathroom is where we handle our business; the day starts and ends in the bathroom and the kitchen is everything in the middle, so both rooms see a great amount of use on a daily basis. But how you use these rooms can be a determining factor. If your bathroom is more like your sanctuary, a place for relaxation, you may want to start on that project first. Now, if your kitchen is the hub for having fun and entertaining family and friends, you would want to remodel your kitchen.

Which remodeling project cost more?

Typically, you’ll want to budget more for a kitchen remodeling project as it is usually more expensive than a bathroom remodeling.

Which project takes a long time to complete?

Generally, bathrooms renovations can be completed in a shorter time than a kitchen renovation. With a kitchen project, you have to wait for the delivery of cabinets, appliances, and other fixtures which makes the time frame long. However, at our kitchen and bathroom showroom, that typically 3-4 week lead time for cabinets doesn’t exist for our cabinetry, we have stock and it can be delivered in 10 days or less, depending on the job size.

Overall, regardless of which investment you decide to tackles first the kitchen or bath-both will bring value and an extra sense of comfort to your home.
